Amidst ongoing partnerships between major drone companies and other industries, a new one has emerged. DRL (Drone Racing League) is a professional drone racing league which operates internationally. Specially trained DRL pilots race their custom-built drones in FPV (First Person View) over 80 MPH. Also, DRL is the main hand in developing the world’s fastest drone. It has hosted competitions all across America. Therefore, to grow its global race footprint, it held a race at Allianz Riviera, Groupe AB media partnership and five-year title partnership extension with Allianz.
First Pro-Drone Race in France
After announcing the partnership it also announced a drone race in France at the Allianz Riviera stadium. Allianz, one of the leading insurers, extended the sponsorship of DRL’s high-speed drone circuit racing to 5 years. Also, the company helped bring the first pro-drone race to the Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Groupe AB, the leading independent broadcast network in France, broadcasted the event live to 75+ countries across the world.

“We will continue working with DRL to expand the Allianz World Championship and present this spectacular new sport to additional audiences around the world,” Allianz marketing executive, Jean-Marc Pailhol stated.
This race marked the commencement of Level 5 of the 2018 DRL Allianz World Championship Season. The 2014 Heli Masters World Champion, Dunkan Bossion, also flew DRL’s custom built, 90 mile-per-hour racing drones through three-dimensional course lines at the iconic sports arena. Additionally, Dunkan also raced his drone in the Season’s Finale in Saudi Arabia.
The spectacle is watched over several millions of viewers across the globe. With DRL’s collaboration with Allianz, many such international races could be possible in the near future.
